Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed India’s commitment to build a sustainable energy system centred on solar, wind, and hydropower. At the inauguration of the 4th edition of the Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) 2024, he said India is preparing the foundation for the next 1,000 years. This is reported by

Modi emphasised that the goal is not only to achieve success but also to sustain it. He pointed to important events such as the international solar energy festival that demonstrated interest in India as an emerging centre in the 21st century.
The Prime Minister said that with no large reserves of oil and gas, India will focus on alternative sources of energy. He also emphasised the target of reaching 500 GW by 2030, highlighting that the country is leading the G20.
Modi added that RE-INVEST is part of a broader plan to make India a developed country by 2047 and that many decisions have been taken in the first 100 days of his third term regarding infrastructure development.
He mentioned important initiatives to support green energy, such as launching offshore green energy policies and hydroelectricity projects. The Prime Minister also mentioned the launch of new high-speed trains and electric mobility initiatives.
