The Indian government has announced a transformative initiative to foster the semiconductor design ecosystem, aiming to enable 85,000 students to design semiconductor chips over the next five years.
The initiative forms part of the government’s commitment to making India a global powerhouse in semiconductor design. This is reported by
IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.
Currently, the programme collaborates with over 20,000 students from 250 academic institutions and entrepreneurs from 45 startups. The government plans to expand its reach, offering access to electronic design automation (EDA) tools for B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD students through the Chips to Start-up (C2S) Programme.
The initiative has received support from multinational companies and expanded its EDA tool access from 120 colleges to 250+ institutions.
This effort is expected to create a robust ecosystem, nurturing talent across India and accelerating the nation’s ambition to become a global leader in semiconductor innovation, the source claimed.
