The crew members of China’s Shenzhou-19 mission conducted a nine-hour spacewalk. This was announced by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), reports
CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.

The extravehicular activity was the longest for Chinese astronauts. In addition, crew member Song Lingdong became the first taikonaut born after 1990 to perform a spacewalk.

Song Lingdong and crew commander Cai Xuzhe performed the installation of space debris protection devices, working with a robotic arm. Their colleague Wang Haojie provided mission support from inside the space station.

“From the assigned tasks to the more flexible assignments, we feel greater and greater confidence in conducting extravehicular activities. China’s space station will always remain something to look forward to,” Cai added.

The crew of the Shenzhou-19 mission will continue to perform scientific experiments, conduct additional spacewalks and install equipment outside the station.
