Venezuela leads Latin America in economic growth in 2024

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) reported that Venezuela leads the Latin American region in economic growth, registering a 6.2 per cent increase in gross domestic product (GDP) during 2024. This is reported by
teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.


The report also said that such countries after Venezuela are Paraguay (4.2 per cent), Brazil (3.2 per cent), Peru and Uruguay (3.1 per cent).


Regional growth is projected at 2.2 per cent this year and 2.4 per cent in 2025.


The ECLAC report states that “the international macroeconomic scenario faced by countries in the region shows global growth of about 3.2 per cent per year in 2024 and 2025.”


The report also notes that “international trade in goods and services is projected to grow at 3.1 per cent in 2024 and 3.4 per cent in 2025”.
