ANO “Creative Economy” summarised the results of 2024, which has become an important stage for the development of Russia’s creative industries. The organisation not only expanded its activities in the regions, but also made a significant contribution to the creation of a legal framework in this area.

This year, Russian President Vladimir Putin set a key goal for the industry: to double the contribution of creative industries to the country’s economy by 2030, raising it from 3.5 per cent to 6 per cent. In addition, the law “On the Development of Creative Industries in the Russian Federation” was adopted in August, establishing uniform rules for the federal centre and the regions. These guidelines formed the basis for all the organisation’s initiatives and activities.

“We see that in the regions there is a growing demand for quality expertise, strategies and research in the field of creative economy, as well as promotion of the regional creative sector. We are ready to help the subjects to identify their creative potential, realise it through creative products and develop a long-term strategy for the development of the creative economy”

Marina Mongush (Abramova) President of ANO “Creative Economy”, Director of the forum “Russian Creative Week”

This year was marked by the expansion of the geography of the main event of the industry – the festival-forum “Russian Creative Week”. For the first time, events were held in Chelyabinsk, Ulyanovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Nizhny Novgorod. In total, the festival covered six cities and was attended by more than 12,000 people. About 12 million viewers watched the online broadcast. Krasnoyarsk, which hosted the forum for the fourth time, once again confirmed its status as the flagship of the regional creative movement, bringing together more than 1.5 thousand participants, including over 120 experts. TV BRICS acted as an international media partner of the event.

This year’s festival focused on the themes of local identity, support for creative industries, their role in the transformation of cities and the influence of art in shaping the aesthetic taste of the country’s residents. Together with the Russian Ministry of Construction, the introduction of creative sectors into city masterplans was also discussed.

Values also took an important place in the strategic discussions. The three regional forums held sessions with representatives of the creative industry, which resulted in proposals for the inclusion of value indicators in regional development strategies. In addition, the first 20 regions presented their creative economy strategies to the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI).

The culmination of the year was the Russian Creative Awards ceremony, for which more than a thousand applications were submitted. Krasnoyarsk Krai was recognised as the most creative region of the year.

ANO Creative Economy is a multidisciplinary centre for the development of creative industries, which organises the largest federal events in this field.
