Iran and Russia are deepening their cooperation in media, aiming to bolster strategic ties and improve mutual understanding, according to
Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.

Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, emphasised the importance of expanding media collaboration during a meeting with Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson. Highlighting the growing partnership between the two nations, particularly in light of the recent BRICS Summit, Jalali called for enhanced bilateral media interactions.

Zakharova echoed the sentiment, advocating for greater coordination in news coverage and media exchange. She welcomed the proposal to develop a framework for joint media conceptualisation on bilateral issues. Both sides discussed facilitating journalist visas and promoting the dissemination of professional and accurate information.

Ambassador Jalali noted that 2024 marked a pivotal year for Iranian-Russian relations, with significant progress achieved across various domains. Key milestones include:

  • signing a memorandum for the construction of the North-South Railway Corridor, with funding secured through bilateral agreements;

  • adoption of a bilateral currency settlement mechanism to facilitate cross-border transactions;

  • agreements on student exchange programmes and joint scientific research.

These developments have strengthened the strategic partnership between Russia and Iran. The BRICS Summit was particularly instrumental in solidifying their dialogue, with both nations committed to advancing mutual goals, the source claims.
