Ethiopia’s Environmental Protection Authority Director General, Lelise Neme, has highlighted the importance of collaborative initiatives to effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which are vital to promote favourable climate change.

To enhance these efforts, the Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with seven key sectoral institutions to develop a national framework for reducing, reporting and verifying greenhouse gas emissions.

Ministries of Transport and Logistics, Industry, Urban and Infrastructure, Agriculture, Mines, and the Ethiopian Forest Development signed the agreement with the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority. This is reported by
ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

During the signing ceremony, Neme reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to achieving a 68.8 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and stressed the need for active cooperation in achieving this ambitious goal.

She said the MoU will contribute significantly to reducing emissions and support Ethiopia’s efforts to build a green economy.
