The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE and Malaysia to support joint investment in artificial intelligence (AI) was officially signed by Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, the UAE Minister of Investment, and Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs. This is reported by

The partnership aims to utilise AI and advanced data analytics to improve public safety, national security and operational efficiency. Key areas of collaboration include developing AI-based national security systems, building high-performance computing data centres and improving customs tax collection processes.
The signing ceremony also discussed strengthening bilateral political and economic ties, as well as exploring opportunities to utilise advanced technologies to improve living standards and quality of life.
Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi emphasised the importance of the partnership: “Our collaboration with Malaysia underscores the strength of our bilateral ties and our shared commitment to advancing technological innovation in support of sustainable development. This Memorandum of Understanding represents a significant step toward enhancing cooperation in artificial intelligence and operational efficiency”.
Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated this partnership with the UAE represents “a crucial step in advancing Malaysia’s ambitions to become a key player in the global AI landscape”.
Malaysia is the UAE’s 12th largest trading partner in Asia and ranks fifth among ASEAN countries. At the same time, the UAE is Malaysia’s second largest trading partner in the Arab world, accounting for 32 per cent of Malaysia’s trade with the region.
