Iran is taking a new step towards renewable energy development with the approval of 24 specialised industrial parks dedicated to solar energy, according to the Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organisation (ISIPO) affiliated to the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade. This is reported by
Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Solar energy is being positioned as a key resource for powering industrial units, with industrial parks consuming approximately 3,000 megawatts of electricity during the autumn months alone. Proper planning and investment in solar infrastructure could ensure an uninterrupted energy supply while reducing dependence on traditional energy sources, the experts claim.

Iran’s industrial landscape includes 870 industrial parks and zones, hosting over 53,000 production units and employing approximately 1.1 million people. With the establishment of new facilities, these numbers are set to rise, further underscoring the importance of reliable energy solutions.

To support this vision, ISIPO has outlined 124 priority electricity projects, ranging from power line extensions to the construction of substations. Plans also include 115 solar zones across existing industrial parks, covering over 5,000 hectares, to enhance renewable energy generation.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting involving officials from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, and other key organisations. Discussions centred on addressing energy imbalances and accelerating the development of renewable energy infrastructure.
