Tehran and Dushanbe have formalised a landmark agreement to abolish visa requirements for air travel between their capitals, according to an official statement released by the Iranian Embassy in Tajikistan.
The new policy, endorsed by Iran’s Cabinet, is set to come into force on 3 February 2025. Under this agreement, citizens of Iran and Tajikistan holding ordinary passports will be able to travel between Tehran and Dushanbe without a visa, with stays permitted for up to 30 days within a 90-day period.
It is expected to foster greater people-to-people connections, a cornerstone of their bilateral engagement. This is reported by

Iran’s tourism minister, Seyyed Reza Salehi Amiri, recently emphasised the importance of strengthening ties with Tajikistan across various sectors, including tourism and cultural exchange.
Speaking earlier this month during the dispatch of a commercial delegation to Tajikistan, he outlined plans to attract a greater number of Tajik visitors to Iran. Currently, approximately 8,000 Tajik citizens visit the Islamic Republic annually, but plans are in place to increase this figure to 100,000.
