Ethiopia’s manufacturing industries have reached an impressive 60 per cent production capacity, marking a transformative leap in the sector’s performance, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Industry.
Minister of Industry, Melaku Alebel, credited this achievement to targeted reforms and policies designed to address long-standing challenges.
A major catalyst for this progress has been the ‘Made in Ethiopia’ initiative, launched two years ago, which has effectively tackled critical inefficiencies within the industry. The government’s comprehensive policy framework has supported both domestic and export-oriented production, enabling the sector to adapt to global market demands and capitalise on emerging opportunities, as reported by
ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Foreign investment has also surged, with advanced industries establishing operations in Ethiopia, further strengthening the sector. Over 156,000 jobs have been created, underscoring the industry’s growing role as a key driver of employment and economic transformation.
The Ministry of Industry remains committed to fostering innovation and ensuring the sector continues to thrive in the evolving global landscape, the source claims.
