Authorities in Hanoi have approved a strategic initiative to expand the city’s railway system by building more than 600 kilometres of railways by 2045.
This large-scale project aims to reduce traffic congestion, strengthen transport infrastructure, boost socio-economic growth and reduce environmental pollution in the capital city. This is reported by
Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the current transport master plan, Hanoi’s urban railway network will consist of ten lines with a length of over 410 kilometres, with plans to add five more lines with a length of 200 kilometres. By 2045, the system is expected to include 15 lines with a total length of 617 kilometres.
By 2030, the city’s railway system is projected to meet 35-40 per cent of public transport needs, rising to 70 per cent in the following years. The initiative shows Hanoi’s commitment to rebuilding its transport infrastructure and contributing to the city’s sustainable development.
