From 30 January to 3 February the Osipov National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia will give five concerts in Beijing. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
The orchestra’s tour will coincide with the celebration of the Chinese New Year, the holidays for which will last from 28 January to 4 February. The concert programme will include Russian musical works popular in China, such as “Katyusha” and”Oi cvetet kalina” (oh the viburnum blossoms).
In addition, the audience will hear fragments of classical works by prominent Russian composers, including Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Dmitry Shostakovich.
The Osipov Orchestra, founded in 1919, is one of the oldest musical ensembles in Russia. It is recognised as a national treasure of the country.
