Runners from Ethiopia secured all podium places in both the men’s and women’s categories at the Dubai Marathon, according to
Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS.
It was reported that Ethiopian athletes claimed all top 10 positions in both categories. In the women’s race, Bedatu Hirpa emerged victorious, with silver and bronze going to Dera Dida and Tigist Girma. In the men’s event, Bute Gemechu took gold, while Berehanu Tsegu and Shifera Tamru secured second and third places.
This success underscores Ethiopia’s dominance in international marathons.
The competition featured 46 athletes from various countries. Held annually since 2000, the marathon has seen three-time victories by Ethiopian athletes Haile Gebrselassie and Aselefech Mergia.
