Director General of Stock Enhancement and Conservation of Aquatic Genetic Resources of Iranian Fisheries Organisation Nasser Karamirad said that exports of farmed caviar increased by 112 per cent in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 19, 2024, compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to his statements, the export volume reached more than 5.3 tonnes of caviar worth US$3.2 million.

The official emphasised that Iranian caviar was exported to 28 countries through Iran’s customs administration during the period.

According to
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, the increase in exports is due to the high quality of caviar grown in the country. It was also noted that the leading provinces for caviar production in Iran are Gilan and Mazandaran in the north of the country, and Fars in the south.
