The 2024-2035 master plan on building China into a leading country in education was jointly issued by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council. This is reported by
CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.
The new educational standard will include human resource competitiveness, support for science and technology, social coherence, and international influence.
In higher education, it plans to accelerate the development of research universities and attract foreign universities for science and technology programmes, opening up new professional master’s programmes. The document emphasises the need to adapt academic disciplines in accordance with the latest scientific and technological achievements.
Special attention will be paid to the creation of new relevant disciplines as well as support for interdisciplinary research. As part of this effort, the Ministry of Education has already added 1,673 new bachelor’s degrees consistent with the national strategy and eliminated 1,670 irrelevant programmes.
The new plan also includes actively promoting international cooperation in education. China is to launch 800 key international summer schools in the next three years. The country intends to actively participate in global educational governance and support its universities in participating in international scientific projects.
