Iran has reduced ozone-depleting emissions by 9,800 tonnes and received four international awards for this. The announcement was made by the Iranian Department of Environment (DOE). This is reported by
IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The Department stressed that Iran achieved this result by changing production processes in 1,378 factories. DOE is currently working on the hydrochlorofluorocarbons removal project, which is in its second phase and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. By that date, the plan is to reduce ozone-depleting emissions by an additional 2,124 metric tonnes.
The Department of Environment has also carried out work to remove chlorofluorocarbons, halons, carbon tetrachloride, methyl chloroform, and methyl bromide in agriculture.
