South Africa’s Minister of Higher Education and Training, Nobuhle Nkabane, has announced that the country will send about 100 students to China next year. The decision follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit to the People’s Republic of China, where Nkabane was part of a Cabinet delegation. This is reported by
Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.

During a press conference in Pretoria, Nkabane clarified that the South African students would study in the area of scarce skills as part of a long-term cooperation between the two countries.

“We have a long-standing cooperation with the People’s Republic of China in various areas of higher education and training that continues to grow and support South Africa’s knowledge and skills development,” the minister said.

Nkabane added that these initiatives are in line with South Africa’s strategic goals of technological advancement and international cooperation in education. She concluded that South Africa will be sending about 100 students to China in the coming year to study scarce and critical skills.
