The “Chamran 1” satellite weighing about 60kg was put into orbit by a Qaem-100 satellite carrier. It reached an altitude of 550 kilometres and sent the first signals a few hours later.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani emphasised Iran’s role as a “rational, strong, and constructive player on the global stage”.

Experts say that Chamran 1 is the first Iranian-developed spacecraft capable of altering its orbit post-launch. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The main task of the satellite is to test software and hardware to validate orbital manoeuvring technology.

The “Chamran 1” satellite will also analyse the effectiveness of cold gas propulsion subsystems and examine navigation and attitude control systems in a space environment.
