The China-Laos Railway, which opened international passenger service on 13 April 2023, has already carried passengers from more than 100 countries and regions, according to the Mohan border checkpoint in southwest China’s Yunnan Province.
So far, more than 1,260 international trains have provided smooth passage for over 282,000 passengers from 101 countries. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
With the introduction of the 144-hour visa-free transit policy, the trains of this railway have become a popular choice for travellers due to their economy, convenience, and comfort, which promotes tourism, study, business, and cultural exchange.
The 1,035-kilometre project connects the Chinese city of Kunming and Laos’ capital Vientiane, an important part of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
