The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve in Saudi Arabia has made significant strides in protecting the environment through the use of drones.
According to the reserve’s management, the use of drones has led to a 66 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
It also recorded a significant increase in vegetation cover, which rose to 8.5 per cent from 1.4 per cent in 2018. This is reported by

The use of drones eliminates the need for four-wheel-drive vehicles that run on fossil fuels, which reduces emissions and helps protect the environment.
They also disperse seeds over vast areas, aiding in the regrowth of vegetation.
The reserve uses 40 drones to monitor and prevent illegal activities such as logging and overgrazing. Drone technology also contributes to the Saudi Green Initiative’s goals of reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
